| Before getting on the train Friday, Ron Grace, 55, called his wife Jan to let her know he was on the way home.
He never made it.
His family spent a frantic night searching for him after the accident Friday only to learn Saturday morning that Grace was killed in the impact, his sister Lorraine Grace said.
The 55 year-old head counselor at Roosevelt Middle School in Glendale, had spent more than 20 years in education --first as a teacher and then counselor, she said. A surfer and golfer and sports fan, Grace was also the father of two grown sons, Andrew, 23, and Brian, 19.
Although hed been born in Brooklyn, he had grown up in Glendale. His work also connected him to the community and a long list of both current and former students who he helped, his sister said.
