Macias, Manuel | Santa Paula | 31 |
| Manuel Macias only took the train on Fridays. Each of the past six Fridays, he woke at dawn, got a ride from his home in Santa Paula to the Metrolink station in Ventura, and rode to downtown Los Angeles to teach yoga to the blind at the Braille Institute, said his uncle, Carlos Garcia. "That was his Friday ritual," Garcia said. "I would drop him off in Ventura and his friend would pick him up in the afternoon in Moorpark." Macias, 31, was born and raised in Santa Paula and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1998 to 2002, according to his yoga practice's Web site. He taught yoga to seniors in Santa Paula and at gyms and yoga studios throughout Ventura County and in Santa Barbara. Macias was killed on impact when the trains collided, Garcia said. | |||
