Mosley, Beverly Rivers Moorpark 57
Beverly Mosley came to California 24 years ago to create a new life for herself and her two young daughters. She was fleeing a bad marriage and wanted a better life for her family, so the single mother years worked hard and sacrificed to create the life she wanted. And, after many years, she succeeded. She put herself through school and got a job as a labor and delivery nurse at Kaiser Permanente hospital in Panaroma City and climbed the ranks to become the hospitals ombudsman. Her job was to handle patients who had a complaint with the hospital, which she did with grace and compassion, friends say. "She had this presence, an aura of kindness or compassion that drew people towards her," said her best friend of 20 years, Joan St. Louis. "She had a gift." St. Louis said she and Mosley instantly became friends after they both learned they were single moms. She said Mosely would do whatever it took to provide for her daughters. When one was heading to college, she moved out of her apartment and rented a room in someones house so she could save for her education. "She would do anything for them," St. Louis said. The friends liked to travel together and in recent years were able to splurge on trips to Las Vegas or Mexico, sometimes hitting the spa while they were there.
