Peck, Charles Salt Lake City 49
Charles Peck flew to California from Salt Lake City on Friday for a job interview at a local airport, said Jennifer Frisnegger, a longtime friend and co-worker. Peck, who had worked at Delta for 25 years, wanted to relocate to be close to his fiancé, who lives in Southern California, she said. Frisnegger had sat with him Friday as he waited for his flight. He was excited about the interview and told her about the sleek train that he would ride to get to his fiancé's home. Frisnegger worked with Peck loading and unloading planes for more than a decade in Salt Lake City. Later, she had moved to another department but still counted Peck as a close friend. She found out Saturday that he had been killed in Friday's crash, likely on his way to see his fiancé. "It's still not real to me," Frisnegger said by phone Sunday. "He had a lot of friends out here, very good friends." She thinks that news reports giving his age as 58 were mistaken. It initially gave her hope that it was another Peck who died in the crash. He was 49, she said. She described Peck as a great dad to three children, a real character who was animated and well-liked. Frisnegger remembers seeing him off with a hug Friday and saying, "I love you. I don't want you to go, but I hope you get the job. Come see me on Monday when you get back."
