Thank you for considering the Ventura County Star to sponsor your event and organization.

Ventura County is rich with various community service organizations and special events, and we are proud to support many of them. Our goal is to reach target markets through events that provide educational, entertainment or cultural experiences relevant to our readers’ lives while making a positive difference in our community.

The Ventura County Star receives dozens of sponsorship requests each month. Each is reviewed by our Community Relations Committee. The committee carefully reviews the requests and makes decisions based on certain criteria and available resources. Although we will consider each request carefully, we are primarily interested in sponsorships that support literacy, environment, health, theater arts, and diversity.

The Ventura County Star partners with as many organizations as possible within our guidelines and budget. The Star will not support events, programs or initiatives that discriminate against, denigrate, exclude or offend minorities.

For the Ventura County Star to consider a sponsorship or partnership agreement, an event, or program, the criteria below must be met.

Criteria for support:

Sponsorship Guidelines
With the volume of events held each year in Ventura County, it is difficult to create a policy that applies to each event. Instead, we offer the following guidelines for your review.

Guidelines:

  1. Exclusivity
    Ventura County Star will be the sole newspaper partner.
  2. Recognition
    As a sponsor, Ventura County Star will be recognized on all promotional materials such as posters, fliers, programs, tickets, signs, print and broadcast advertising, press releases, etc.

    The appropriate Ventura County Star logo should be used. The logo cannot be altered in any way. The size of the logo must be in proportion to the size of the ad.

    When appropriate and commensurate to the level of support, The Star shall be provided with invitations and/or tickets to the events.
  3. Booth space and signage
    If the event is one where booths are set up, Ventura County Star will select a booth space to distribute promotional items, as well as sell daily newspapers and/or solicit subscriptions. In addition, areas will be assigned for display of a Ventura County Star banner or banners. Banners should be picked up by The Star’s marketing department and must be returned, in good condition, within one week after the close of the event, unless other arrangements have been made.
  4. Sponsorship ads
    All sponsorship ads shall be published on a space-available basis. Placement and publications dates cannot be guaranteed. For guaranteed position, please contact our Advertising Department.

    Ads are to be used to promote the special event or initiatives described in the application, and are not transferable. All thank-you ads are handled through our Advertising Department.
  5. Agreement of confidentiality
    The specific terms and conditions of sponsorship agreements are confidential. They shall not be made available to any third party without the prior written consent of the Ventura County Star and the event organizer.
  6. First right of refusal
    Event organizers agree to offer the Ventura County Star the first right of refusal for event sponsorship the next time sponsorships are negotiated.
  7. Event survey
    Within a month after the event, you agree to complete The Star Event Survey of the event’s attendance, media used, goals achieved, photographs of Ventura County Star signage or other information of importance. We cannot consider your event next year without this survey. The survey will be automatically e-mailed.
  8. Sponsorship agreement termination
    The Ventura County Star reserves the right to change these guidelines or terminate this program without notice.
